I would love to be able to schedule an expiration date for my price alerts. What I'll often do is purchase an item and then setup a price alert so that if it drops within the 30 day store return/refund policy, I can go back into the store and get the difference refunded to me. It would be awesome if I could schedule price alerts to expire after a certain date (i.e. 30 days) so that I won't get bothered by a price alert I don't care about later on.
I could see that this would also help reduce some load on your servers, as it would clear out unnecessary entries that your servers are having to issue alerts for.

There already exists code for expiring them but there is no user interface for it yet, mainly due to a lack of polishing / refinement.
Do you imagine all price watches having a default timeout period, or would they be unexpiring by default? If the former, I suppose 30 days would be your preferred default?
Thanks for sharing your idea! -

I would like to see this also. I preorder books from a couple different sites and some of them have a cutoff as to when you can edit your order. It would be nice if I could set the expiration date so that it matched up with the cutoff date.

No matter what you do, just make sure it's simple and quick. Maybe instead of having a date picker, just have a dropdown with some defaults, like 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, 1 year, Infinity and beyond.
