1. place gray text inside search box that says something like "keywords or URL" (It took me a while to remember I could paste a URL into that box.)
2. make the search box work for all retailers. First cut would be at least having it recognize which retailer a URL belongs to, and send the user to the correct Camel site. Subsequent enhancements could aggregate keyword searches.
3. The "Find Products" button always seems to wrap to the next line and appear half obscured by the items below it on my FF 3.6 display. I though it was because of my window size or zoomed text, but reverting to unzoomed text in a maximized window didn't change it.

1) We used to have this but opted for moving the text outside of the edit box and placing it immediately above it on the page. Is that text not noticeable enough?
2) Recognizing retailer / camel URLs regardless of the current site seems logical, but we cannot display combined search results without Amazon getting angry with us.
3) I thought I fixed this (and indeed it is fixed in my install of FF 3.6.x)...I will look into it again and see what I can do, sorry for the screwup there.
Thank you for sharing your ideas! -

I guess it is, but it appears misaligned, and thus unassociated with the search box.
I've never been a great fan of the disappearing help text in an edit box, but with limited screen space it can be a useful technique.

Ah...

Looks cut off for me. I can send a screen shot of it helps. Maybe a font variation? -

It's all related to the width of the search box, which I am investigating.
Is your font size set to the browser's default? -

My browser is set to 16-point serif font. I don't recall if that differs from the default. 16-point sounds like it might be larger than the default. Though my secondary FF profile seems to be set the same. -

That is what my font is set to. The only time the header breaks for me is when I increase the page zoom level by 2 increments from the default.
So far, anyway... -

Tom, how does the site look now? I've just updated it with some changes that fix the display issues that we could find.

Corrected: the button appears where it should and the instructional text is aligned.
There's still a fare bit of whitespace between the "Amazon price history search..." line and the text box (at least the height of the "A" in "Amazon"), which weakens the association, and the text is smaller than it could be. I'd rather see it tight to the text box, and have it extend under the country selector and other items that are justified to the top right corner.
If I boost my text zoom to 120% (normal default using the NoSquint extension), things distort a bit - the text box and button are both clipped on the bottom, the country selector and "signed in as..." items have pushed under the "Amazon price history search.." line. But it's still usable. I wouldn't put a high priority on making it work under these circumstances. It's tough to pull off unless you do all of your layout with dimensions that float relative to the font size. -

I agree that there could be less whitespace between the search box and its label.
And thanks for the feedback regarding zoom. Obviously, we'd like to have the site look the same at all zoom levels, but our layout styling at the moment tends to drift between absolute sizes and percentages. Something to keep in mind for the next layout refresh! -
