Time lag between e-mail
Most of the time I get an e-mail for a price drop, but I still end up checking because occasionally, I'll get no notice (or a late one, by which time someone else could have snapped it up). Sometimes I go on Amazon and find a low price, with nothing in my inbox. Or, the price of a blu-ray might be from 2 days ago, when now it is more expensive. Sometimes I use another site (the Tracktor) to make sure I don't miss anything, but it would be good to be able to just need one. I don't know what the problem could be, since it's not very concrete. If the email system works half the time, it's hard to say why that is.

This is a problem caused by the huge number of products we have in our system and the low amount of product data requests we're allowed by Amazon. The result is that sometimes we are behind on price changes.
We are currently trying to get Amazon to let us update more frequently, so hopefully in the near future we'll be better about the lag. -

You're welcome! I'll post in this topic again once I have more news about our efforts.

How are requests prioritized? Perhaps products with a smaller difference [between current and desired price] should be checked ahead of products with a larger difference. A price could easily fall by $1 overnight, but it probably won't fall by $100 in a day.

1We have two product queues: one contains all products with at least one associated price watch, and the other contains everything else. This leads to the former (smaller) queue being updated a few times per day and the latter (significantly larger) queue about once a week.
We have been considering making a third very targeted queue that would update certain products more often, but we just got some news that might make doing that less important...
Amazon says they are removing the request limits from our account within the next 10 days or so. Once that happens, we will ramp up our product updating speed as much as we can / is reasonable. We aren't really sure what to expect yet, but our data staleness problems might be solved! -
